Spotlight: Dirt Candles for Clean Living PDF Print E-mail

dirt candles gift set

Check out Locallectual company Dirt Candles for some of the hippest, most eco-friendly candles available. The GMO-free soy wax used in Dirt Candles is made with organic soy cultivated in the USA. This "green" soy is used instead of paraffin (a by-product of petroleum refining) along with essential oils, botanical ingredients, and all-natural cotton wicks. They use recycled packaging printed with soy inks and labels made from corn. They do not do animal testing, and the sootless candles burn 60+ hours. They are fully biodegradable. A portion of each candle sale is donated to charity. Check out fun scents such as Beach Bum, Sugar Rush, or Love Machine! Dirt Candles are, of course, made in the USA.

Eating Locally, Eating Seasonally: Black Walnuts PDF Print E-mail

I received the most surprising item in my extended-season local food share last week: black walnuts. In addition to the dozen or more I received in my food share, I also seem to have some at my house! Fortunately, Judith Evans with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch has been thinking about black walnuts as well. Her latest Recipe Exchange post, Eat local foods, eat black walnuts (in sweet, savory recipes), has given me both info about the black walnuts as well a delicious-sounding recipe.
