A dance club in Rotterdam, Holland will be the first to use the energy expelled by dancers to supply energy to the club during the night . An Enviu subsidairy called Sustainable Dance Club along with scientists at the Technical University of Delft and architects from a Dutch firm call Döll have created a technology that involves using electromagnetic induction to convert the downward movement on dancers on the floor to mechanically convert the energy.

On September 2, Iggy Pop will be performing at Club Watt in Rotterdam and those hittin' the dance floor will play their part in keeping the lights on.

Nightclubs are notorius energy hogs, using up to 150 times the amount of power in a night that an average home does. Club Watt plans to use 30% less energy using this new technology, and is setting an example for other nightclubs around the world.

Club Watt isn't going to be the only green club out there. The Sustainable Dance Club concept is forming regulations and rules that clubs must adhere to if they want to earn the SDC label. These rules include that a club must reduce energy consumption by at least 30 percent and waste production by 50 percent.

While this technology will raise the prices at clubs, in a survey, club hoppers said they would be willing to pay more to fund greening of clubs.

A new restaurant is opening in D.C. that will be the first LEED gold-designed and Certified Green restaurant to open in the nation's capital. The 8,500 square foot Founding Farmers restaurant  is designed to meet Leadership in Energy Efficient Design (LEED) certification criteriaand Green Restaurant operational standards, which will distinguish Founding Fathers from other restaurants claiming to be "green" and "farm-fresh".

Chef Graham Duncan will be leading the F.F. kitchen team with dishes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, Sunday brunch and Sunday supper featuring homemade traditional American classics inspired by the heartland. All menu items will be made with sustainably farmed and sustainably sourced ingredients, and the kitchen will utilize only in-season vegetables and fruits.

Founding Fathers green efforts include following strict guidelines for reducing energy use and waste, such as water conservation and recycling. The menus are printed on recycled paper with soy-based inks, and the water will be house-filtered so as not to waste bottles.

Come check it out at 1924 Pennsylvania Ave. NW in the newly completed IMF (International Monetary Fund) HQ2 building.
