What's more referenced in the bible than love and heaven? The planet wins in with over 1,000 references while those measely other topics come in with only about 500 references each. So what does this mean? It means that God would want you to read the new "Green Bible", which is printed on partially recycled paper in soy-based ink. The "Green Bible" also indexes all mentions of animals, land and water, and highlights in green ink all verses of the New Revised Standard Version that discuss the care of the planet. So pick this copy up at your nearest book store. God would want you to. -Jess

The Phoenix New Times food blog, Chow Bella, has a feature on Chrysa Robertson from Rancho Pinot Restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona. The interview with Chrysa focuses on her homemade mozzerella cheese.
From the piece:
"She’s been an ardent supporter of locally sourced ingredients before
the term 'locavore' was part of the culinary lexicon, and helped start
the Phoenix Slow Food Convivia with good friend, Chris Bianco. She’s
still stirring the pot, so to speak, and this time she’s making fresh
mozzarella." -Karen

While the footwear company Cri de Coeur does not make all of their footware in the US (many of their items are manufactured in Portugal), I did stumble across this pair of trendy kicks made right here in the United States -- the Jessica Ankle Boot. There is plenty of great stuff to say about Cri de Coeur, however, as they are a Certified carbon-neutral and cruelty-free company. They utilize 100% vegan materials as well as sustainable processes. And to top it all off, with each purchase they sponsor a tree to be planted to help with reforestation efforts around the world. The mission of Cri de Coeur is to strive for ethical and sustainable practices in everything they do, without sacrificing style or wearability.

New York City’s toolkit on urban agriculture should be looked at as an example for the rest of this country’s metropolitan areas to follow. Not only does it give specific instructions on how to make the most of a small natural space but it also outlines the reasons why it is so important for Americans to do so.
