Most of us go to state fairs for carnival rides and funnel cake but state fairs are actually amazing places to find locally made goods. Everything from fresh, local produce and dairy products to crafts, candles, and soaps. State fairs are designed to showcase a state's accomplishments and products, so just by going to the fair you're supporting your local community. But remember to purchase from local vendors too and not just buy ride tickets and hot dogs - these companies are traveling and your community will not profit from these expensive, and let's face it, not the greatest, money pits.
